Troubleshooting the VE1020 TV and DVD Player

Why will my disc not play on the VE1020 System?	Insert a disc with the label side facing up. Check the type of disc you put into disc tray. This player only plays DVDs, audio CDs and MP3s. Both the unit and the disc are coded by region. If the regional codes don't match, the disc can't be played. (NOTE: This DVD player is set to Region Number 1)
Why did the VE1020 System suddenly stop or cause the LCD screen to go black?	Turn the player OFF and then back ON. If the player still does not respond, press the reset button.
Why will my VE1020 System not turn on?	Check to make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the wall outlet. Check the batteries of the remote control to make sure they are not old or weak, if they are then replace them.
Why is the picture distorted or skipping occasionally on my VE1020 System?	The disc may be dirty or scratched. Try cleaning or replacing the disc. (NOTE: It is normal for some distortion to appear during forward and reverse scan)
Why is there no picture on the LCD screen of my VE1020 System?	Verify the system is in the correct video mode. Check that the power wire is connected properly. Check that the system cable is in the correct position. The cable could also be damaged; if this is the case, consider replacing it.
Why can't I fast forward or advance through a movie on my VE1020 System?	You cannot advance through the opening credits and warning information that appears at the beginning of many movies because the disc is programmed to prohibit that action by the distributor.
Why does my IR remote not work on my VE1020 System?	Remote may be too far from the unit. Verify that the batteries in the remote are fresh. Verify that the remote sensor eye is not obstructed.
Why is there no sound or distorted sound coming from my VE1020 System?	Check to see if the player is in slow or fast playback mode, if it is then press Play for normal playback. Make sure the mute function is not on. If the internal speakers are being used, make sure they are turned on and volume is turned up. Make sure your unit is connected properly.
Why can't I change the Camera Angles?	The disc being played does not support Angle functions. To check whether the disc supports the Angle functions, see if the Angle indicator on the upper part of the main display is illuminated.
Why can't I change the Subtitles?	The disc being played does not support subtitle functions or is prohibited from changing Subtitle Languages.
Why can't I change the Audio Languages?	The disc being played does not support Audio Properties or is prohibited from changing Audio Languages.
Why won't the Setup menu operate?	The DVD disc must have a setup menu for this function to work.
Why won't the TV Mode or TV Type functions work?	The DVD disc may not support this function.
Why is there power, but no video or sound coming from my VE1020 System?	Verify that the correct source is selected (i.e. DVD, AUX). Verify that the source is on and playing a known good media (such as a DVD). Verify that both ends of the harness are connected.
