Operating the AR ARS3i Media System for iPod or iPhone

Getting Started
Installing the rod support: Screw the rod support into the hole at the rear to support the unit.
Connect the main unit power:
- Connect the supplied power adapter to the product’s DC 6V jack, and connect to a convenient wall outlet.
- Once connected with power and switch the ON/OFF button to ON, the Main menu appears.
To install or replace the batteries:
- Remove battery compartment door (located at the rear of the digital photo frame) by applying thumb pressure to the tab on battery door and then lift the door out and off the cabinet.
- Insert or replace 2 AAA batteries.
- Replace the compartment door.
Note: It is recommended to plug the unit for AC power while replacing batteries to avoid the loss of clock and mode settings.

General Controls


Note: In Main menu mode, when there is no operations for about one minute, slideshow will be automatically started. The priority of photos to be displayed in the slideshow is first photos on Card, then USB devices and lastly photos stored in the internal memory of the unit (i.e. Favorites).

Clock
Setting date and time:
- In Main menu, press Left or Right to select Settings. Press Play/Pause to enter Settings menu.
- Press Up or Down to highlight the Date or Time.
- Press Left or Right to highlight the option.
- Press Up or Down to change the values and then press Play/Pause to confirm.
- Press Up or Down to highlight the Time Format.
- Press Left or Right to change the values and then press Play/Pause to confirm.
- Press Main Menu to exit Settings menu. You can also press Up or Down to highlight Exit to exit Settings menu.
Entering clock mode:
- In Main menu, press Left or Right to select Clock. Press Play/Pause to enter Clock mode. Clock and calendar will be displayed.
- Slideshow will then be started. The priority of photos to be displayed in the slideshow is first photos on Card, then USB devices and lastly photos stored in the internal memory of the unit (i.e. Favorites).

iPod/iPhone
Connecting iPod/iPhone:
- Slide the speaker to the right to open the universal dock for iPod.
- Place the appropriate adapter provided with your iPod/iPhone and then place your iPod/iPhone on the universal dock for iPod/iPhone.
Charging the iPod/iPhone: You may charge the battery of your iPod/iPhone through the universal dock for iPod while the unit is turned off (standby mode) or in the Music, Photo, Clock or iPod/iPhone mode. Charging control should be operated on the iPod/ iPhone. It is not necessary to charge in iPod mode, unless you are listening to the iPod.

Listening to iPod/iPhone:
- Dock your iPod/iPhone to the universal dock.
- In Main menu, press Left or Right to select iPod/iPhone. Then press Play/Pause.
- Press Left or Right to select music, photo or video and press Play/Pause.
- Playback of music file from the iPod/ iPhone starts automatically.
- Press Left or Right to skip to the previous or next music file. Press and hold Left or Right to search backward or forward for a music file.
- Start playback of photo or video files on your iPod/iPhone manually first. The iPod/iPhone cannot play video automatically.
- Use the controls on iPod/iPhone for photo and video files playback.
- If no iPod/iPhone is connected in the iPod mode, the unit will show “The selected device is not connected”.
Note: Upgrade the latest iPod/iPhone firmware from Apple official website.

Music
Playing music:
Notes:
- The unit can only support USB fl ash drive and memory card which formatted in file system of FAT or FAT32.
- The supported music file formats include mp3, WMA & WAV.
- Insert an SD, MMC or MS card into the SD/MMC/MS card slot or insert a USB fl ash drive into the USB connector.
- In Main menu, press Left or Right to select the source of music from Card, USB or Favorites. Then press Play/Pause.
- Press Left or Right to select and Music and press Play/Pause.
- Press Up or Down to select the file you want to play.
- Press Play/Pause or MUSIC ON/OFF to start playback.
- To pause the playback, press Play/Pause. Press Play/Pause again to resume playback. Press MUSIC ON/OFF to stop playback.
- Press Left or Right to select the previous/ next file. Press and hold Left or Right to rewind or fast forward.
- Press Up or Down to adjust the volume. The volume bar will be displayed for a while once you change the volume.
Note: If no music files are found in your selected source, “No file in the selected device” will be displayed.
Copying music:
- During playback of music files on SD, MMC or MS card or USB, press EDIT to enter the pop-up Edit menu. Press EDIT in the music list before playback can also enter the pop-up Edit menu.
- Press Up or Down to select Copy and then press Play/Pause.
- “Copy to internal memory? If the same file exist will be overwritten.” will be displayed. Press Left or Right to select Yes and then press Play/Pause to confirm.
- “Copy successfully!” will be displayed. If the unit does not have enough free internal memory, “No enough memory” will be displayed. Delete some files before you try to copy files again.
- Press EDIT or press Up or Down to select Exit to exit the Edit menu.
Note: If the video in the internal memory is viewed now, the “Copy” item is disabled because the video in the internal memory cannot be copied to the external memory. e.g. an SD card.
Deleting music:
- During playback of music files in the internal memory of the unit (i.e. Favorites), press EDIT to enter the pop-up Edit menu.
- Press Up or Down to select Delete.
- “Are you sure you want to delete the selected file” will be displayed. Press Left or Right to select Yes and then press Play/Pause to confirm.
- “Delete successfully!” will be displayed.
- Press EDIT or press Up or Down to select Exit to exit the Edit menu.
Repeat:
- During playback of music files on SD, MMC or MS card, USB or music files in internal memory of the unit (i.e. Favorites), press EDIT to enter the pop-up Edit menu. Press EDIT in the music list before playback can also enter the pop-up Edit menu.
- Press Up or Down to select from Repeat one, Repeat all or Shuffle and then press Play/Pause.
- Press EDIT or press Up or Down to select Exit to exit the Edit menu.

Photo
Viewing photo:
Note: JPEG is the only supported photo file format.
- Insert an SD, MMC or MS card into the SD/MMC/MS card slot or insert a USB fl ash drive into the USB connector.
- In Main menu, press Left or Right to select the source of photo from Card, USB and Favorites. Then press Play/Pause.
- Press Left or Right to select Photo and press Play/Pause.
- Press Left, Right, Up or Down to highlight the desired file.
- Press Play/Pause to start photo slideshow.
- To pause the slideshow playback, press Play/Pause. Press Play/Pause again to resume playback.
- Press Left or Right once to select the previous/next photo file. Press and hold Left or Right to skip to previous/next music file if background music is on.
- Press and hold Play/Pause to stop slideshow and background music (if turned on) and return to the thumbnail screen.
- Press Up or Down to adjust the volume. The volume bar will be displayed for a while once you change the volume.
Note: If no photos are found in your selected source, “No file in the selected device” will be displayed.
Settings:
- During slideshow playback, press EDIT to pause slideshow and enter the pop-up Edit menu.
- A pop-up menu shows:
- Rotate – Press Play/Pause repeatedly to rotate the current photo by 90O clockwise each time.
- Zoom – Press Play/Pause repeatedly to zoom in the current photo. The zoom in feature cycles through X2, X3 and X4, then returns to normal size.
- Effect – Press Up or Down to select from Color enhancement, Black and white, Old fashion and Normal. Then press Play/Pause to confirm.
- Copy:

- Press Up or Down to select Copy and then press Play/Pause.
- “Copy to internal memory? If the same file exist will be overwritten.” will be displayed. Press Left or Right to select Yes and then press Play/Pause to confirm.
- “Copy successfully!” will be displayed. If the unit does not have enough free internal memory, “No enough memory” will be displayed. Delete some files before you try to copy files again.
Note: If the photo in the internal memory is viewed now, the “Copy” item is disabled because the photo in the internal memory cannot be copied to the external memory. e.g. an SD card.
- Delete – Refer to “Deleting photo” section below for details.
- Background music – Press Up or Down to select from iPod/iPhone, USB, Memory Card and Favorites to select playing music from which source during slideshow. Select Off to turn off background music. Then press Play/Pause to confirm. You can also press MUSIC ON/OFF to turn on/off the background music during slideshow.
- Exit – Press Play/Pause to exit the pop-up menu.
- Press EDIT or press Up or Down to select Exit to exit the Edit menu.
Note: The effects of “Rotate”, “Zoom” and “Effect” will be automatically resumed to normal when the next photo is displayed during the slideshow.
Deleting photo:
- During playback of photos in the internal memory of the unit (i.e. Favorites), press EDIT to pause slideshow and enter the pop-up Edit menu.
- Press Up or Down to select Delete.
- “Are you sure you want to delete the selected file” will be displayed. Press Left or Right to select Yes and then press Play/Pause to confirm.
- “Delete successfully!” will be displayed.

Video
Viewing video:
Note: The PC requirements for muvee software installation are shown below:
- Processor: Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon 64 (or equivalent), 2GHz or higher
- Memory: 1GB RAM
- Video memory: 128MB
- Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft XP Service Pack 3.
Note: This digital photo frame only plays motion JPEG generated by muvee Reveal. Refer to the user manual in the CD-ROM, which is included in the package. This manual provides instructions for how to install the included muvee Reveal software and instructions about how to create a muvee file and save it to the memory card or USB fl ash drive.
- Insert an SD, MMC or MS card into the SD/MMC/MS card slot or insert a USB fl ash drive into the USB connector.
- In Main menu, press Left or Right to select the source of video from Card, USB and Favorites. Then press Play/Pause.
- Press Left or Right to select Video and press Play/Pause.
- Press Up or Down to highlight the desired file.
- Press Play/Pause to start video playback.
- To pause the video playback, press Play/Pause. Press Play/Pause again to resume playback.
- Press Left or Right to select the previous/next file. Press and hold Left or Right to rewind or fast forward.
- Press and hold Play/Pause to stop video playback and return to the thumbnail screen.
- Press Up or Down to adjust the volume. The volume bar will be displayed for a while once you change the volume.

- During playback of video files on SD, MMC or MS card or USB, press EDIT to enter the pop-up Edit menu. Press EDIT in the video list before playback can also enter the pop-up Edit menu.

Settings
Settings options:

- Press Up or Down to highlight a setting.
- To change the value of date and time, press Left or Right to highlight the options and press Up or Down to change the values. Press Play/Pause to confirm the date and time. To change options other than date and time, press Left or Right to change the values and then press Play/Pause to confirm.
- Press Main Menu to exit Settings menu.
Settings options available are:
- Image Display – To crop a photo to fit the screen or adjust to original aspect ratio.
- Slideshow Transition – To set transition effect between two photos. Options are: Random, Blinds, Melt, Mosaic, Roll, Snail and Float.
- Slideshow interval – To set the interval between two photos. Options are 5s, 15s, 30s and 60s.
- Brightness – To set the brightness of the screen. Options are High, Mid and Low.
- Date – To set the date.
- Time – To set the time.
- Time Format – To set the time format (12 hours or 24 hours).
- OSD Language – To set the language of the user interface. Options are English, French and Spanish.
- Reset Setting – To reset all settings to factory default.
- About – To show the information of the firmware and the model number.
- Exit – To go back to Main menu.
