Quick Start for the RCA Lyra X2400 MP3 Player

Battery Operation: 

Inserting Battery into the Unit:

1. Remove the battery door by applying thumb pressure.
2. Slide the battery door in the direction of the arrow, then lift the battery door out and off the cabinet.
3. Insert the Lithium polymer rechargeable battery.
4. Ensure that the contacts of the battery line up with the contacts of the player.
5. Close the door of the battery compartment.

Charging the Unit:

1. Connect the power cord of the AC/DC adapter to DC for battery charging. The charging light indicator changes from red to blue when the battery is fully charged.

Note: To use AC/DC adapter, the existing insert must be removed and replaced with the 2-prong insert provided.

Inserting Compact Flash Card:

1. First ensure the unit power is OFF.
2. Insert a Compact Flash Card into the card slot on the right side of the unit.

Computer System Requirements:

• Pentium III 500MHz or higher recommended
• Windows ®98SE, Me, 2000 (SP3 or higher), or XP
• Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher
• Internet access
• 200MB free hard disk space for the software
• 128MB RAM or above
• CD-ROM drive capable of digital audio extraction
• USB port (2.0 recommended)
• Sound card

Note: For Windows 98 users, the included CD-ROM with the Drivers must be installed before connecting your Lyra Player to your PC.

Connecting the Lyra Player to the Computer

1. Ensure the Compact Flash Card has been inserted and the LOCK switch is in the UNLOCK position.
2. Insert the smaller end of the USB cable to the USB jack on the unit.
3. Connect the larger end of the cable to the USB port on the
   computer tightly.
4. Press and hold Stop/Power to switch on the unit. The message “USB CONNECTED” will appear on the unit display. Then the unit will appear as a Removable Disk drive on the computer.

Note: It might take several seconds for the unit to be detected, especially in Windows 2000/XP. Click Refresh in the drop down menu or press F5 on the keyboard when in My Computer or Explorer to make sure the unit has been detected.

Transferring Files:

• Do not unplug the USB cable during file transfer.
• Since this player acts as a Mass Storage Class device,
  it can transfer files that are not compatible with the unit
  from one computer to another.
• Images and Video need to be converted by the bundled video management software before browsing in the player.
• Make sure the audio tracks are encoded in the mp3 formats at supported bitrates. Bitrates supported by the player: mp3 - 32 to 320 kbps. WMA and DRM formats are not supported.
