PC Connection and Charging the RCA M100256 Digital MP3 Player

Computer System Requirements:

• Pentium III 500MHz or higher recommended, Macintosh iMac G3 or higher
• Windows 98SE, Me, 2000 (SP3 or higher), or XP, Mac OS X Version 10.1.5 or higher
• Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher
• Internet access
• 100MB free hard disk space for the software
• 64MB Ram (128MB recommended)
• CD-ROM drive capable of digital audio extraction
• USB port (2.0) recommended
• Sound card

Back Up Your Data:

As with any portable device that has a hard drive, you must back up the drive regularly. We are not responsible for lost data!

Connecting the Player to your Computer:

1. Press and hold the lock button on the back of the player and slide the USB connector out from the player.
2. Insert the USB connector of the player into the USB port in the computer tightly (use the included USB extension cable if necessary).
   
   

MP3 players are only tested through the computer via the USB cable, so that is the only way we support charging the player.

Risks of charging the player with a universal charger:

1. If you try a universal charger, it would be at your own risk.
2. If you get a universal charger that produces too much power, it could damage the player.
3. Normally the computer can sense when the player is fully charged, if you use a universal charger and it sends over a contact charge even after the battery is full, it can also damage your player.

Selecting between USB and battery charging mode:

Selecting USB mode lets you transfer files to the player while charging mode lets you charge the unit. This player uses an internal (Lithium polymer) battery that can be charged with a PC.

1. Turn on your PC.
2. Connect the player to your PC (use the included USB extension
   cable if necessary). The player will be in USB mode automatically for file transfer.
3. Press and hold Play/Stop to switch to charging mode.
4. In charging mode, press and hold Play/Stop to switch the player to USB mode.

Notes:

1. You can still transfer files to the player in the battery charging mode.
2. You may stop charging the player when the display shows “Battery full”.
