|
Set the remote to control your TV:
Setting up the remote to control your TV will allow you to operate your TV's volume and mute.
- Locate the three position switch inside the battery compartment. Set the switch to the middle position (P). This puts the remote in Programming mode.
- When programming is complete, set the switch to either Child or Adult user modes before replacing the battery compartment door.
To program using Code Input:
- Make sure your television is on.
- Press the VOL+ key on the Kid's Remote. The remote's LED blinks twice.
- Refer to the TV codes in the accompanying code list. Find your TV brand and use the remote's number keys to enter the first code for that brand. When you press the fourth number key, the LED on the remote blinks twice to confirm a valid code.
- To test the TV code, slide the switch on the back of the remote to Child mode.
Note: The remote must be in Child or Adult mode to test the code.
- Point the remote at the TV and press Mute.
- If the TV is muted then the code is correct. If the TV did not mute then try the next code for your brand. Repeat steps 1-4 in this section with the second code. Keep trying codes until the TV responds to Mute.
To program using Code Search:
- Make sure your television is on and the remote is in programming mode.
- Press the CH+ key. The LED blinks twice.
- Press the On/Off key once.
- Press the CH+ key once per second until the TV turns off.
- When the TV turns off, press On/Off key.
- If the TV turns on, press Mute to save the TV code. If the TV does not turn on, press CH- to go the previous TV code and press Mute once the TV turns on.
Note: There are over 200 possible codes, so the code search may take a few minutes.
If you have a different program provider...
If you have a different program provider (like cable or Dish Network), follow the instructions below to program the remote to operate your cable box or satellite receiver.
Note: If you have DIRECTV service, you can ignore these instructions - the remote is already programmed to operate your satellite receiver.
- While in Child or Adult mode, hold down both Mute and On/Off for three seconds until the LED blinks twice.
- Enter 9 8 2.
If the LED blinks 4 times then go to the next step. If the LED blinks twice (or not at all) then start from step 1 again.
- Put the 3-position switch in Programming mode (P).
- Press the VOL- key. The LED blinks twice.
- Find your satellite receiver or cable box brand in the accompanying code list.
- Enter the first code for that brand with the number keys on the remote. When you press the fourth number key, the LED on the remote blinks twice to confirm a valid code.
- Slide the 3-position switch to Child or Adult mode.
- Press CH+ to see if the cable box or satellite receiver changes channels.
If the channel changes, the remote control has been set. If the channel does not change, repeat steps 1 through 3 for the next code for that brand of set-top-box. If the LED flashes one long blink, the entry failed and must be repeated.

Test the Network Keys:
The Kid's Remote keys with network logos on them are preprogrammed to tune directly to those networks on DIRECTV receivers. Because channel lists and lineups can vary, it's a food idea to test these keys to make sure they go to the right channels on your DIRECTV receiver.
To test the network keys:
- Point the Kid's Remote directly at your DIRECTV receiver.
- Press a key with a network logo on it.
If the receiver tunes to the right network then that key is correct. Please try the next one. If the receiver tunes to a different network then that key needs to be reprogrammed. Make a note of the key that needs to be reprogrammed and find the channel number for that network in your channel lineup.
- If you find any network keys that need to be reprogrammed, follow the steps below to set the key(s) to the correct channel number(s).
