Using your WiFi Network with ARRU449 Universal Smart Remote Control
The Smart Remote's Connect menu lets you configure the remote's connection with your wireless network(s). You've probably already connected your Smart Remote to your wireless network as part of the initial setup. The Smart Remote used this Internet connection to download the latest software, program guides, remote control database, news/weather/sports, and other data. The device and activity settings on the Smart Remote are also backed up on the network.
Connecting to a WiFi Network
	The Smart Remote has a built-in wireless network interface card that is capable of using the 802.11b/g protocols. The Smart Remote software supports unsecured wireless networks, Wired Equivalency Privacy (WEP) secured networks, and WiFi Protected Access (WPA) secured networks. To connect to a WiFi network: Press the HOME key. Highlight the Connect icon and press SEL. A screen appears advising that you're about to start the Connect wizard. Press the Yes soft key to continue. Read the instructions and press the Next soft key. The Smart Remote scans for available WiFi networks - this may take a few seconds. When it's finished scanning, the screen displays a list. Highlight your WiFi network's name and press SEL. The Smart Remote obtains an Internet Protocol (IP) address for the network and connects to the WiFi network. The remote may also catch up on any updates it's missed, which may take a few minutes. Note: If your WiFi network name is not listed, try another scan. If it still does not appear, see Adding a Network to add the network manually. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up other setup options if you haven't done so already. Note: The Smart Remote will automatically connect to the network as it needs to during use.
Configuring WiFi Connectivity Options
	To add a network: This procedure should only be used if your WiFi network name does not appear during a scan of the available networks. Press the HOME key. Highlight the Connect icon and press SEL. A screen appears advising that you're about to start the Connect wizard. Press the Yes soft key to continue. Read the instructions and press the Next soft key. The Smart Remote scans for available WiFi networks - this may take a few seconds. When it's finished scanning, the screen displays a list. Press the Options soft key and select Add Network. Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the following fields; then press SEL to change them for your WiFi network. Network SSID Network type Security Network Key (or Pass Phrase) Press the Options soft key and select Connect. The remote will connect to your WiFi network. Note: To use WPA security, the network SSID must be broadcast. To delete a network configuration: Press the HOME key. Highlight the Connect icon and press SEL. Press the Yes soft key to start the Connect Wizard. Press the Next soft key to advance to the next screen. Highlight the WiFi network you'd like to delete and press the Options soft key. Highlight Delete network and press SEL. A confirmation message appears to delete the network, press the Yes soft key. The network is removed from the list of available networks. To view network details: Press the HOME key. Highlight the Tools icon and press SEL. Highlight the About icon and press SEL. Press the top right arrow key to change the screen to Network. There are four main areas of information displayed on this screen: WiFi SSID displays the WiFi network that is connected Channel displays the radio channel the WiFi network is using. Strength displays the quality of the WiFi connection - 0 is the strongest connection quality; negative numbers represent a weaker signal. MAC displays the Media Access Control address for the remote. Connectivity Internet displays statistics for the Smart Remote connecting to the Click365 network. G/W displays statistics for the Smart Remote connecting to your network's gateway. DNS displays statistics for the Smart Remote connecting to your network's domain name server (DNS). TCP/IP IP displays the IP address of the Smart Remote. DNS displays the domain name server used in the WiFi network. G/W displays the gateway of the WiFi network. Mask displays the subnet mask of the WiFi network. DNS lookup Click365 displays the amount of time your DNS server took to resolve the domain name for Click365. To disable WiFi Connectivity: Press the HOME key. Highlight the Tools icon and press SEL. Press the Options soft key. Highlight WiFi settings... and press SEL. To temporarily disable the WiFi network card, press the Yes soft key. WiFi connectivity will remain disabled until you enable it again. To enable WiFi Connectivity: Press the HOME key. Highlight the Tools icon and press SEL. Press the Options soft key. Highlight WiFi settings... and press SEL. Press the Yes soft key to enable to WiFi network card. WiFi connectivity is enabled. To configure advanced options for your WiFi network: Press the HOME key. Highlight the Connect icon and press SEL. Press the Yes soft key to start the Connect Wizard. Read the instructions and press the Next soft key. The Smart Remote scans for available WiFi networks in range and displays a list of available networks. Highlight the network you'd like to configure and press the Options soft key. Highlight Advanced Setup and press SEL. The following options are available in the advanced setup screen: Network SSID Network Type: Infrastructure, Ad-hoc Security: None, WEP, WPA-PSK (AES+ TKIP), WPA2-PSK (AES+ TKIP) Network key Address settings: Automatic, Manual When you've finished configuring the network's advanced options, press the Back soft key to exit the Advanced setup screen. To view the Media Access Control (MAC) Address: Press the HOME key. Highlight the Connect icon and press SEL. Press the Yes soft key to start the connect wizard. Press the Next soft key to advance to the next screen. Highlight your WiFi network and press the Options soft key. Highlight MAC address and press SEL. Press the Close soft key to clear the MAC address from the screen.
