Why is there no power to my D1708? |
- Make sure the On/Off Switch is in the On position.
- Make sure your DVD is connected properly.
- Make sure all cables are securely inserted into the appropriate jacks.

Why is the (hand) icon appearing on the screen of my D1708? |
The feature or action cannot be completed at this time because:
- The disc's software restricts it.
- The disc's software doesn't support the feature.
- The feature is not available at the moment.
- You've requested a title or chapter number that is out of range.

Why is the picture on my D1708 distorted? |
- The disc might be damaged. Try another disc.
- It is normal for some distortion to appear during forward or reverse scan.

Why can't I forward or reverse scan using the D1708? |
- Some discs have sections that prohibit rapid scanning or title and chapter skip.
- If you try to skip through the warning information and credits at the beginning of a movie, you won't be able to. This part of the movie is often programmed to prohibit skipping through it.

Why won't a disc play on my D1708? |
- Insert a disc with the label side facing up.
- Check the type of disc you put into the disc tray. This player only plays DVDs, audio CDs and MP3's.

Why is the IR sensor inoperative on my D1708? |
- Verify that the batteries in the remote are fresh.
- Verify that the remote sensor eye is not obstructed.

Why does play start but then stop immediately on my D1708? |
- Both the unit and the disc are coded by region. If the regional codes don't match, the disc cannot be played. This player is Region Number 1.
- The disc is dirty, scratched, or damaged. Try using a clean, undamaged disc.
- Condensation may have formed inside the player. Allow the player time to dry out.

Why is my D1708 only showing in black and white? |
- The newer version of this model are NTSC only, however the older versions do have a selection setting in the menu screen. Using the remote you need to make sure the unit is set to "NTSC" and not "PAL". Press "setup" arrow down to "TV TYPE" arrow over and down to "NTSC" then press OK/ENTER. The unit will then be set to "NTSC".
- The only other scenario could be that you have the "color" setting all the way down. Please change color setting in the setup menu.
- If this does not resolve the problem, the unit will require repair.

Why is the red light blinking when trying to charge the battery to my D1708? |
- A blinking light indicates that the battery is not charging.
- If you are able to watch a DVD using the AC/DC wall adapter, you probably need a new battery. Please use one of the methods below to contact Customer Support.

How do I program settings on my D1708 without the remote control? |
- Unfortunately, you can only program settings using the remote control.

How do I get my "homemade" DVD to play on my D1708? |
- This model will not play any recordable or writeable DVD disc formats. It will only play prerecorded, studio DVD movies.

Why am I getting sound but no video on my D1708? |
- Check that the A/V IN/OUT Switch on the side of the player is set to the OUT position.
- Check the small switch near the hinge at the back of the unit, if one is installed there. It turns off the LCD screen when the panel is closed. This switch sometimes sticks in the down position and the screen remains off. When the screen is opened, the switch is supposed to pop up. If it is still in the down position, try to free it with the ends of a toothpick or paper clip.
- If both switches are correctly set and the screen remains blank, the unit should be sent to Audiovox for service. Please use one of the methods below to contact Customer Support.

Is it possible to produce a slide show of photos on the D1708? |
- Unfortunately, no, this model does not support that feature.

Why is there no sound or distorted sound on my D1708? |
- Make sure your DVD is connected properly.
- Make sure all cables are securely inserted into the appropriate jacks.
- Be sure that the systems settings are correct and that the volume is turned up.
- The sound system of the DVD also needs to be set up correctly.
- The disc cannot be dirty or warped. If so, you need to replace it.
- Also, if there are headphones connected to the headphone jack, these need to be removed.

Why is my D1708 getting warm? |
- The unit will become warm when it is used for a long period of time.
- This is normal and does not indicate a problem with the unit.

How do I clean the D1708? |
- When cleaning, make sure the system is unplugged from the power source.
- Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners.
- Use a cloth lightly dampened with water or one of our Surface Clean products for cleaning the exterior of the system only.

What is the default password for my D1708? |
- The default password is 3308.

What disc formats will my D1708 play and can I program the unit to play certain formats? |
- Supported Media formats: DVD/CD/MP3.
- If you try to load any software other then the upgrades provided by Audiovox, the unit will most likely be permanently damaged and will void the warranty.
- None of our units will support CD+G format (karaoke).
- The unit will not play any recordable or writeable DVD formats, such as DVD-R or DVD+R. It will only play prerecorded, studio DVD movies.

Why won't the battery to my D1708 charge? |
- If you charged the battery more than 2 months ago or stored the unit with the battery attached, you will need to replace the battery. As stated in the User Manual; "Battery has to be recharged every two months or it will become weak and will not recharge".

Can I add a game pad or video game to my D1708ES via the E-port? |
- You could connect a game system to the A/V input/output jack.
- The E-port is only compatible with the Audiovox game controller that has 30 built-in games.

Do both screens display the DVD on the D1708ES? |
- Yes, both screens will display the DVD.

Does the car adapter for the D1708ES fit into the cigarette lighter? |
- Yes, the "car adapter" powers the unit(s) from the cigarette lighter jack in the vehicle.
