Troubleshooting the Audiovox CCS-100 Electronic Cruise Control |
|
Problem: |
Solution: |
Will the CCS100 work with my car even if my vehicle isn't on the list, and if so, do I need to use anything else to make it work? | If your vehicle isn't on the list, the CCS100 will still work with your car. You need to utilize the Magnet Kit (included with the CCS100). This will allow the CCS100 to work with your vehicle. Audiovox also has available the CCS-202 Vacuum Reservoir and the CCS-204 Ford adapter available. |
Can I install the CCS100 by myself? | You can install the CCS100 by yourself. You will need a Digital Volt OHM meter or logic probe, drill with ¼” and ½” bit, #2 Phillips screwdriver, pliers, side cutter pliers and a small wrench or socket set. However, if you do not feel confident that you can safely install the cruise control yourself, Audiovox recommends that you have it installed by a qualified professional. |
I can only provide for about 1” of total linkage travel installing the CCS100 Cable, will this be enough travel? |
The mounting point chosen should have between 1 ½” and 2” of total linkage travel and it must operate smoothly by hand. This works out to at least 5 beads between the throttle connector and the servo cable end. The directions are included in the Installation Manual below (Page 7, Figure 19).

Can I install the CCS100 unit to the firewall? | This unit has rapid response valves inside the servo which constantly operate during cruise operation. To prevent noise transferring to inside the passenger compartment, we strongly recommend this unit not be mounted to the firewall. Also, do not mount servo on the engine. |
Will the CCS100 unit be affected in any way if I don't connect all wires from the switch? | The switch will not illuminate if the Gray wire is left disconnected. You must connect all other wires from the switch or the cruise control will not operate. |
Can I use the Power Brake booster vacuum hose when installing the CCS100? |
No. You should never cut or attach to the power brake booster vacuum hose. Look for the vacuum hose coming directly from the intake manifold. Please note, however. This vacuum source must maintain at least 6 inches of mercury vacuum. If the vacuum is lower than 6 inches (while the pedal is depressed) then a vacuum canister must be used. |
How do I install the CCS100 even though I can't locate an existing rubber grommet to pass my wires through? |
You should always try to use an existing rubber grommet when available, but if an existing rubber grommet is not available, carefully drill a ½” wire entrance hole in the bulkhead and use the rubber grommet supplied in the kit. |
How do I know how many Pulses Per Mile (PPM) my vehicle allows? | Refer to the reference manual for information of VSS and PPM that applies to your specific type of vehicle. |
Why does my vehicle’s speed drop considerably when traveling up hills with the cruise control on? |
You may need the optional vacuum booster canister. Please contact us using the Ask a Question tab above. |
