Operating the Code Alarm CA420A Remote Start Upgrade

SAFETY (Red Handled) CONTROL SWITCH

The control switch allows you to temporarily disable the remote starting function of your Remote Start system. To disable the system, move the red handled control switch to the OFF position.

REMOTE STARTING THE VEHICLE

The system WILL NOT start the vehicle if any one of the following situations exist:

• The vehicle's hood is opened.
• The gear shift selector is not in Park.
• The brake pedal is depressed.
• The safety control switch is in the Off position.

To start the vehicle:

1. Press and release the transmitter button 2 times within 2 seconds. The vehicle will start and remain running for the preprogrammed 5, 10, 15, 20 minute run cycle. As a visual indication, the parking lights will flash or remain on depending on the setting by your installation center.
2. When you arrive at the vehicle, turn the ignition key to the ON position (Do not try to restart the vehicle), then step on the brake pedal to disengage the remote start. The vehicle will continue to run, but now on it's own power.

SHUTTING DOWN THE REMOTE START

To shut down the remote start feature from the transmitter press and release the transmitter button 2 times within 2 seconds.

NOTE: Remote Start activation/shutdown can be configured for single or double press, refer to the programmable features section of the installation manual.

TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING

If the need arises for programming of additional or replacement transmitters, simply follow the 4 steps outlined below:

1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
2. Press and release the programming switch 3 times.
3. Press and hold the button of the transmitter you wish to add for 3 seconds. The parking lights will flash indicating the transmitter has been learned.
4. Repeat step 3 for each transmitter up to a total of 4.
